Why sell with CollectorsFolio?

Partnering with CollectorsFolio to sell your rare books and manuscripts gives you the ability to sell directly to collectors, dealers and institutions all over the world.  We market your books to our Manhattan Rare Book Company customers, to our growing community of CollectorsFolio members, on aggregator sites such as abebooks.com and in print and web ads in trade publications such as Fine Books & Collections Magazine, AmericanaExchange.com, NYTimes.com, washingtonpost.com and other elite and influential media outlets. We have sold millions of dollars of books for amounts ranging from $250 to $100,000 and up.

How to sell through CollectorsFolio

Our full service approach makes selling convenient and hassle free for private collectors. All members are welcome to list and sell books; there is no charge to create a listing. There are two ways to list and sell your books with CollectorsFolio:

1. Custom CollectorsFolio listings. We catalogue, photograph and list your books for you. We will help arrange fully insured shipping service.

2. Do-It-Yourself listings. To create your own listings simply log in and click Create a Listing on the left navigation bar. This is recommended for less expensive items. For more on DIY Selling click here.

We encourage members with books to sell to contact us for a consultation by calling 212.980.2100 or click the button below to discuss selling your books.

Learn more about selling:

Who sets the prices?

Sellers set their own prices; we're here to providing pricing assistance and market information. No sale is complete without your approval of the final sale price.

Completing Transactions

We handle all transactions acting as the seller’s agent. When a book sells we will be here to act as an intermediary to take payment, handle shipping, answer any questions the buyer may have and to preserve the anonymity of both parties. In other words, in completing a transaction you do not deal directly with the buyer.

Commissions

The seller's commission is 15% of the final sale price up to and including $5000 and 10% for any amount in excess of $5000. There is no buyer's premium.

Do-It-Yourself Selling on CollectorsFolio

Sellers are welcome to create their own descriptions and use their own photographs. To complete a transaction, you will be asked to send your book to our New York office where we will examine and catalogue the book before sending it on to the buyer.
